Wolf on the Athabasca River

Wolf, hunting on the Athabasca River near Fort McMurray, AB (Canada), February 18, 2004

When we set out to do some winter field work on the Athabasca River upstream of Fort McMurray, Alberta in the winter of 2004 we were surprised by how many wolves were using the ice cover as their hunting grounds.  Luckily they didn’t consider us tasty enough to bother with.
