Vale Island Ice Jam Flood 2008

Ice jam flood at Hay River, NWT (Canada), May 7, 2008

Flooded sections of Vale Island at Hay River seen during breakup 2008.  Over to the right of the orange tanks, just diagonally across the road by the white boat, is where I took the picture of the stranded ice floe (shown in an earlier post).  Over to the left, by the white tanks, you can see the government dock, where I took the photo of the JAVE boat (posted yesterday).  Just behind the orange tanks is the museum; in a future post, I’ll show a photo of the huge ice floes that were littering the yard there.
