Freeze-up in Edmonton

Freeze-up on the North Saskatchewan River at Edmonton, AB (Canada), December 3, 2009

I took this photo on one of our aerial reconnaissance flights through Edmonton during freeze-up in 2009.  You can see frazil pans and rafts on the surface and flocs of slush in suspension.  I got this unique perspective as we were circling back to our instrument deployment site.
