Peaceful pause during breakup on the Athabasca River, AB (Canada), April 21, 2000
Breakup on the Athabasca River near Fort McMurray, Alberta is typically quite dynamic, with many ice jam formation and release events and lots of dramatic ice runs. It’s unusual to see things looking so calm when there’s ice in the picture.
