Ice Mound

Frozen penstock leakage on the Kananaskis River, AB (Canada), Feb. 24, 2012

If you look closely at my last post, you can see a mound of ice in the background on the left.  Here’s are some photos, taken by PhD student Jennifer Nafziger, that provide a closer look at that mound of ice.

I especially like the top photo – she caught the sun shining right through the ice.  It almost looks like the mouth of a whale.
